Storage products, especially mobile terminal storage products, have been evolving, driven by the introduction of 5G services. In the early days, mobile phone storage was in the form of an external SD card. It then evolved into embedded eMMC and eventually the more powerful UFS. The development of mobile phone flash memory has given rise to extensive intelligent applications that have improved the mobile phone user experience while speeding up data reading and writing.
(Mobile phone storage iterations)
Today, SD cards are gradually disappearing from mobile phones. Embedded storage products have taken the lead in the mobile terminal storage market. Most early smartphone flash memory used the eMMC standard. However, eMMC 5.1 cannot fully support the massive data throughput of 5G and struggles to meet the performance requirements of the latest mobile applications. As a result, many intelligent mobile terminals are now using UFS chips.

Since JEDEC released the new UFS 3.1 standard in 2020, Longsys's embedded storage team has been committed to R&D and testing. After two years, Longsys successfully launched the FORESEE UFS 3.1 protocol, which is currently being tested and validated.
Enhanced mobile performance makes transferring easy
As FORESEE's new-generation flagship embedded storage, UFS 3.1 boasts significantly optimized performance and reduced transfer latency. It offers write speeds up to 1,200MB/s, which is nearly three times faster than the previous UFS. It significantly improves the efficiency of mobile devices. In addition, UFS 3.1 can meet functional requirements such as instant boot, fast boot, and multi-tasking. It can also reduce application loading time to facilitate 5G mobile device acceleration.

A smooth path to 5G connectivity
FORESEE's UFS 3.1 is currently available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB capacity options to meet mainstream market demand. The product is designed to be as thin as 1.0mm to be flexibly compatible with the internal space of mobile terminals. The product is widely used in flagship smartphones, tablets, AR/VR devices, high-speed smart cameras, intelligent vehicles, and 5G IoT devices.

Additional multiple features provide a new experience
· Write Booster
· Low Power Management
· Thermal Throttling
· Host Performance Booster
The HPB feature can be used to enhance the read performance of devices using FORESEE UFS 3.1. The principle is to utilize the phone's RAM to relieve the pressure on flash memory to improve read performance.

Outlook
With the popularization of technologies such as 5G and AI, the share of UFS products in the mobile terminal application market has been expanding rapidly. UFS 2.2/3.1 protocols are now more mature and competitive in performance and technology than earlier UFS standards. We can expect more and more mainstream mobile terminals to use UFS chips.
The widespread adoption of UFS chips heralds performance iterations in IoT, intelligent vehicles, and other areas. Longsys will launch a range of automotive FORESEE UFS products this year to help industry customers seize market opportunities.
